The Financial Times posted this video on the craft gin industry in the UK. When you see this video you will ask what whether we have craft distillers in Ontario. While we are not seeing a huge increase in drinks made with gin, we do have two small gin manufacturers in Ontario which are making great products.
Georgian Bay gin is delicious and uses the abundant juniper bushes in Georgian Bay. Gin used to be made with junipers from Scotland but they are no longer available and now come from the Adriatic. It seems appropriate for Canadians to switch to our own juniper sources. The other gin distiller in Ontario is Dillon’s of Beamsville. They make a rose gin which we like. It goes perfectly with ice and a splash of soda.
